· Versatility – what media does it allow me to use (text, images, video)?
This type of internet allows you to upload, photos, movies and cliparts. The only thing that this website does not allow is to upload audio.
· Ease of use – how friendly is the user interface for the designers (you)? How easy is it to add components to my presentation? How friendly is the user interface for the user, can visitors find what they need on your presentation? Are you able to create a menu system or is the user forced to work through your presentation in a linear predetermined fashion?
This website is very easy to use, it is very friendly and safe seeing that you have to make an account to use it and, you have a choice of putting your account of privite or public. The website is very appealing and attractive to look at, meaning it will grab peoples attention and more users.

When i had first looked at the website i did not have a clue of what i was doing, but later on as i got help from sir and as he taught me and took me through how to use the webpage, it turned out to be very easy and afficant to use.
· Collaboration – how well does the online tool allow me to work with my partner? Can we both work on the presentation at the same time?
phone divices
My daughter insists that her phone be Wifi capable? What does this mean? Why does she need it?”Wifi capable means that you would be able to use internet on the phone if there is a wifi internet connection wherever you are. You sometimes need to provide a password for the internet connection and in some cases you don't. For example, McDonald's Wifi is free and anyone with wifi on their phone can use it. Or, if you have wifi at home, you can connect to the password for your router. The daughter would clearly want this to use internet networks such as facebook on her phone.
2. The mother says “She wants the camera in the phone to be at least 5 Meg thingys, what does this mean? Does she need it?”Megapixels: A unit of graphic resolution equivalent to 220 or (strictly) 1,048,576 pixels. She does not NEED this but if she takes alot of photos on her mobile phone and wants the quality to be good, then this is a suitable choice for her phone.
3. “My daughter wants a phone with a capacitive touch screen. They seem more expensive, what advantages do they offer over other types of touch screens?”Capacitive touchscreen displays rely on the electrical properties of the human body to detect when and where on a display the user touching. Because of this, capacitive displays can be controlled with very light touches of a finger and generally cannot be used with a mechanical stylus or a gloved hand. This is useful if the daughter wanted a easy touchscreen phone which is convenient which light swipes or touches of the screen.
5. “Are all phone as smart as one another? What is the smartest phone at the moment and why?”No, not all phones are as smart as one another.
6. “She wants to take lots of video and photos. How do I know which phone can store the most videos and photos?”It depends on which phone you decide to buy because on some of them such as the iphone, the amount of storage can not be changed and you cannot add in a ST card which will expand your storgae. On other phones, you can put in a card and then your phone will have more memory to store photos and videos.
7. “She says she wants to be able to buys apps. What are apps? What sort of useful apps cold she access? What types of phones can buy and use apps?”Apps are applications that you can either purchase or get for free from the app store on phones such as the Iphone and Samsung Galaxy. She can purchase useful apps such as 'facebook' and 'Find My Iphone.' It is easier for you to access many different types of things on your phone if you can purchase or get free applications on it.

1. What are MID and UMPC devices? How do they differ. List atleast three examples of both types of devices & include images
UMPC
Consumer-class lifestyle device
QUESTION 2-3 could not be answered because videos are not availble
UMPC
- Business-class device for enterprise users
- Runs a "heavy" OS like Vista
- Optimized for office-use applications like Excel, Word, etc.
Consumer-class lifestyle device
- Runs a 'lightweight" OS with quick startup like Linux
- Optimized for things like media playback and web surfing
- In 2009 (or so) Moorestown-based devices will be classed as MIDs only
QUESTION 2-3 could not be answered because videos are not availble
4. Of the three handheld devices - Notebook, netbook & Ipad – which one would suit your needs and why?
If i could chose to have one of the following decives i would chose to have the ipad because it is the most recent invension that has come out. I would also benifit this to my need because it is very fast, has good storage place, has internet, music, camera and heaps more fasinating investions in the ipad. I would aslo like this because it is very light and attractive.
5. If I was looking for a UMPC device with a screen size of 10 in or less, which would you recommend? Justify your choice.
If you had asked for my help in chosing the right UMPC decive i would say to go with the size of 10 because the bigger the better. However it might cost you abit more money than any other smaller device.
QUESTION 6- video was not avalible.
Bites And Bytes
- What is a Digit
A digit is a single place that can hold numerical values between 0 and 9. Digits are normally combined together in groups to create larger numbers
2. “normal” counting numbers used in everyday life a based on what sequence of numbers?
The neat thing about number systems is that there is nothing that forces you to have 10 different values in a digit. Our base-10 number system likely grew up because we have 10 fingers, but if we happened to evolve to have eight fingers instead, we would probably have a base-8 number system.
3. Where does the word bit originate from?
The word bit is a shortening of the words "Binary digIT
4. Binary numbers don’t use base 10. What base do they use? What digits are available in base 2?
Our base-10 number system likely grew up because we have 10 fingers, but if we happened to evolve to have eight fingers instead, we would probably have a base-8 number system.
The CPU quiz
1. What is the function of the CPU?
CPU or central processing unit is a complete computation engine that is fabricated on a single chip.
2. What was the name of the first CPU?
The first microprocessor to make it into a home computer was the Intel 8080
3. Referring to the graph on page 2 of the article, describe how the speed of CPU’s has changed.
All of these microprocessors are made by Intel and all of them are improvements on the basic design of the 8088. The Pentium 4 can execute any piece of code that ran on the original 8088, but it does it about 5,000 times faster!
4. What does MIPS measure?
MIPS stands for "millions of instructions per second" and is a rough measure of the performance of a CPU
5. Research (Google it) what is a dual core processor, what is multitasking and how do the two work together.
A dual core processor is a CPU with two separate cores on the same die, each with its own cache. It's the equivalent of getting two microprocessors in one. Monday, July 25, 2011
broadband
Broadband
What is broadband? "-Broadband", is a high data rate connection to the Internet— typically contrasted with dial-up access using a 56 kbit/s modem.
Outline the methods of delivery of broadband (wireless, cable, ADSL and fibre)? Identify the speed of each method.
Wireless- wireless isn’t the faster internet access out there, however it all depends on how much internet usage that you would like to pay for in one month.
Cable- cable is faster that wireless seeing that it has a cable connecting for your mortem to your computer to speed up your internet usage.
ADSL- ADSL is the fastes internet access that you could possibly get. Although it’s the most affiant and fasters it costs allot more than an average internet would cost.
Advantages/disadvantages of the above.
All of the broadband access is easy to use and very quick, however that both costs allot of money to run.
Cost of each broadband Wireless- $100
Cable- $80
ADSL- $250
Fibre- $90
The World Of Multimedia
The world of multimedia
1. Where do you commonly use multimedia in your daily life, list as many examples as you can.
The places that I mostly use multimedia will be, at home. I think that I use the most multimedia there because at home I have access to the internet, internet on my phone (connected from the house wifi), my Mobil phone (calling and messaging purposes), the televising. Although you do not have to use all of the above at home, these can be used in several different places. For example
· McDonalds has free internet access, that meaning you could connect the internet for you phone, laptop, iPod, ipads etc through the McDonalds account for free.
· Outdoor, internet access can be used out-doors just depending on how much reception that you have available.
· At home
· Shops ( some shops will have a television in there store with some shows playing)
· Restaurants ( radio and music )
2. What multimedia device or service would you find it hardest to be without? Discuss.
The multimedia device that I would find it hard to live without would most likely have to be my laptop. I chose my laptop because it is very convenient for me to use, it doesn’t weight allot, it is quick and easy and I get all my work and assignments that is needed to be done on it. It also has a big storage place that meaning I can be able to download, movies, shows, music, and pictures, and still have quite a fair bit of storage space left.
3. The video on the future directions (third video), has already to some extent come true. What media technologies displayed in this video are commonly used?
(Video did not let me view it)
4. Do you see any disadvantages/advantages to the use of such multimedia technology?
No, I think that the use of this much technology could be good for the world seeing that it gives the world and the people in it something to look forward to and to be excited about. However some disadvantages of using this much multimedia could take up allot of electricity costing people to pay a fair bit of money.

Introduction to video.
1. What are some advantages of digital video? Of all the disadvantages of using digital video cameras this is probably the most challenging.
You have read the sensible articles stating that it is not the equipment but the technique that makes the best digital videos. But who cares about that! If you are a real enthusiast then it is as much about the equipment as it is the end result.
Yes there is a high initial cost to pay, but it has fallen, quite considerably in recent years. But I wonder if like me, you feel that you have to aim for at least a certain standard of digital video camera, past the basic models at least.
2.What is meant by frame rate in video?
Frame rate, or frame frequency, is the frequency (rate) at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called frames. The term applies equally well to computer graphics, video cameras, films cameras, and motion capture systems. Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second (FPS), and is also expressed in progressive scan monitors as hertz (Hz).
3. Are all videos/movies the same frame rate, explain your answer.
Not all videos/movie frames are the same, they can option from a varitiy of different things that you can choose from.
4. What is meant by resolution, how is it measured
Monitors are measured in inches, diagonally from side to side (on the screen). However, there can be a big difference between that measurement and the actual viewable area. A 14-inch monitor only has a 13.2-inch viewable area, a 15-inch sees only 13.8 inches, and a 20-inch will give you 18.8 inches (viewing 85.7% more than a 15-inch screen).
5.What is the colour system called RGB
An RGB color space is any additive color spaces based on the RGB colour modle. A particular RGB color space is defined by the three chromaticities of the red, green, and blue additive primaries, and can produce any chromaticity that is the triangle defined by those primary colors
6.Explain the video standards PAL, NTSC, and SECAM, what are the main differences between them?
7.Which standard to we use in Australia
In Australia we use NTSC.
8.What is an IEEE 1394 port?
The IEEE interface is a serial bus interface standard for high communication and isochronous real-time data transfer, frequently used by personal computer as well as in digital audio digital video, automotive and aeronuatics applications.
Video compression is clearly our friend because without a lot of compression we would have a very hard time handling the massive data we get from a 1080p video stream. Think of two mega pixels per frame at 24, 30 or 60 frames per second (translates to 48, 60 or even 120 mega pixels data per second). 10. Describe what a codec is.
Originally, the term CODEC referred ti a COder/DECoder: a device that converts between analog and digital. Now, the term seems to relate more to COmpression/DECompression.One of the important features of a codec is its bitrate which refers to the number of bits that is required to be transmitted per second.
11.What is meant by “generation loss”, where does it happen?
the population of this country has gone down by and enormous amont.
PAL (Phase Alternating Line)
NTSC (National Television System Committee)
SECAM (Sacquentiel Color Macmoireae ”Sequential Color with Memory)

broadband .
what is broadband ?
The term broadband refers to a telecommunications signal of greater bandwidth, in some sense, than another standard or usual signal (and the broader the band, the greater the capacity for traffic)
what units are meausred to use broadband ?
There are a lot of ways to measure bandwidth, some measurements are very similar and are often confused. Below is a list of the typical units you may encounter. The main thing to note is the difference between the bits and bytes units, they only differ by the capitalisation of the letter B. There is a factor of eight difference between Kbps and KB/s, this is because there is eight bits to a byte. Therefore a 54 Kbps dial-up connection can also be specified as a 6.7 KB/s connection.
Typical Data Rate Units
Typical Connection Speeds
what are the speeds that broadband operates at compaired to dial up ?
broadband speed is much more quicker and afficant rather than dail up seeing that whilest you are using dail up you can not be on the phone as well as the same time connected to the internet (dial up) which makes broadband quicker and much better.
advatages of using broadband.
broadband is much more quicker than dail up or any other operating internet. It also has the benifits of it being much more eaiser and alot more cheaper.
